Weekly production log 3

Weekly Production Log

This week my group and I are starting to film. We will be filming in the drama after school in our spare time and hopefully if everyone was to work well and there were no distraction then we could finish the filming within that time then all that needs to be done is editing and adding sounds to match that specific scene.
Also one of my peers in my group is easily distracted so it's much more difficult to keep him on track and make sure that he's actually doing his work that he needs to do and also do my job which is direct the film while also starring in the movie.
My group has not created a script but we have all decided to go with the flow and just come up with it on the spot since it would take more time for the actors and actresses to learn their lines whereas this way we can just get straight in to it.

Another thing that my group hasn’t achieved this week is sticking to our production schedule because since the classroom isn’t available to use anymore we have to work around the schedule of the drama room which means we have had to change things and mainly after school is when we can all meet since all of our schedules and the actors and actresses schedules are not working out.
Since we are on the last week before our Christmas holiday our deadline is coming really close and no work for filming will get done since everyone would like to spend Christmas stress free so everything must get done this week in order for that to happen.

Unit 22 Pitch Evaluation and Link

Pitch Evaluation

Strengths
Is that we all had something to say and do some of us more than others but we still worked hard on out plot and took time to think about the things we had instead of what we didn't have and how we can use those resources to make our film good. Another strength was that we each had individual jobs for example i had the job of thinking of the types of themes that were linked in each of the films that i watched. Afsana job was to think about the plot and ow we could make it better for example a better ending to our original one. Selim's job was to think about what the characters would wear and have as props in the actual film. Also Selim also offered to use the camera and film the production which was another one of our strengths since we was already looking ahead of who's doing what job and how.

Another strength was that we all had ideas for a plot and sort of collaborated them all together to make it even better so we never actually used our own individual plots we mixed them together to make it even better to any of the plots that we had come up with before.

Also another strength that we had was that we listened to each others ideas and let everyone talk freely. Another strength that we had was that we all seemed to like the fact we were all working together and it was easier to get our ideas across.

Weaknesses
The weaknesses that we faced as group that not everyone pulled their weight in the actual making of the presentation. Also in the feedback that we got we needed to be more detailed in our work, for example we could have mentioned the moral of the story which is one of the things that we forgot to mention. Another weakness that my group faced was that we didn't go though each slide in the depth that we could have because i think we were all so nervous that we tried to rush it, so for improvement we could try to be more confident in the presentation.

Another one of our weaknesses is that it took us longer to come up with ideas for our short film for example the plot, the title which is still a working progress, and locations that we will be filming in and the people that we will be casting which is also still a working progress. Also what people realized from our pitch is that one of the people in our group wasn't saying as much and didn't participate with pitching the idea. Also another weakness that happened was that we were all nervous especially me when we was going in front of everyone this may be because our presentation wasn't as strong as some of the others. Since we didn't really talk about the audience in more depth and we told the audience what our influences are but we didn't really talk about the movies in depth and what there about exactly.

Weekly production log week 2

Production Log 2

When meeting with my group today we had discussed all the changes that we have made to our short film which was that we have changed the location of our film since the storage cupboard in media room that we were planning to use is going to be knocked down in a very small amount of time so we had no choice but to move the location to the drama room in our school which might not be as good but if we were to change a few things to our story hopefully it will be very successful.

Another change that we had to make was the actors who were starring in our film which the killer was going to be played by Ibrahim and now due to Ibrahim playing in other people's films it be more time consuming for him so we allocated another actor which is Imran Hussein who we recently found out can act and can do it really well for that character.

Also another change that we made was the ending of the story line which was suppose to be the killer just killing the girl and thats the end but now we added an extra scene were the killer cleans off the blood which will give people the effect of how badly he killed her and how much it hurt the girl because of the amount of blood that got everywhere on his clothes and hands and on the floor so we came to the conclusion that this would be a better ending.

Unit 1 -Weekly Production Logs

Weekly production log

What me and my group did this week was we sorted out all paperwork that will need before we start filming. For example this week we had to create our release forms for the cast so they are aware of the fact that we will be using them for our BTEC media unit of a short film and will be posted on our individual blogs and on our YouTube channels it was very important that my group and I do this so there wasn't any chance of miss communication and then they one day found there face on YouTube which may lead to some very unhappy people. We also created our job roles list so everyone was aware of their individual jobs so that everything is organised and doesn't take up more time than it should since there is still so much to do that we all posted this on our individual blogs along side a production schedule so we knew when we are to be meeting to film and when we the crew and cast are all available. Another thing that we created this week was a call sheet on each scene that we would be filming that day this  is to keep us more organised however since we are filming in school is much easier for my group and I to film because in case we was to miss a scene out that is easily changed since we wouldn't need to travel far and it's based in school. Also it made things much easier for my group and I since we didn't need to receive permission to use the location that we desired.

Unit 1 A2 - Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment

Hazard: Glass in Flexi
Risk Rating: Medium
Controls: Making sure that shoe laces are all tied up and nothing is in the way of the actors, or crew walking, this will then make sure that there are no incidents.

Hazards: Darkness
Risk Rating: Medium
Controls: Wait for eyes to adjust to darkness. Also having a quick scan of the room to make sure that all the cast and crew know where things are positioned.

Hazards: Chairs
Risk Rating: Low
Controls: Stack the chairs up and place them in the corner where no one will need to go, or could keep them tucked underneath the tables where no one will be able to trip over the leg of the tables.

Hazards: Tables
Risk Rating: Low
Controls: Make sure that all cast and crew know where tables are positioned so there is no chance of any incident.

Hazards: Boxes
Risk Ratings: Low
Controls: Move the boxes and make sure they are on flat secure surfaces so there is no chance of them falling on either the cast and crew.

Hazards: Sheleves
Risk Ratings: Medium
Controls: Making the characters aware of the Shelves that will be located in the storage cupboard and that they will behind a large sheet for the production.

Unit 1 - Type Of Production

Type of Production

I was asked to create a film with my group for a short film festival. Before we were put together into our groups we all had to come up with our own individual ideas and then decide between us which one we are going to choose.
The genre of our film was a Comedy and our sub genre was Horror, however when making the film we never decided that it would be a Comedy it was just suppose to be Horror but during the making we had changed things since nearly everyone decided to use a Horror as there genre. I liked the idea of doing a Comedy since if people are laughing that shows my group and I that they are enjoying it so therefore comedy seemed one of the best ways to make people enjoy it.

Single Camera

Single camera may be beneficial for the type of production that you are putting on, benefits of  using a single camera production is that it would be much easier and quicker to set up therefore this is less time consuming. Also it would be much cheaper to buy one single camera and hire one camera man/woman to record the production that is being put on. What would also be beneficial is that there is more locations that could be hired out as there is not as much equipment that is needed to be used therefore there is more space this makes it easier for the director. This would also give the director more control over each shot taken. Single camera makes this look very realistic to the audience.
However single camera could be more time consuming when adjusting the lighting as it needs to be changed or moved every time the camera angle has changed, and also in the post production process the editing would take an extreme amount of time. Also it would be a difficulty in reproducing a scene as everything needs to be put exactly the way it was. having a single camera means that the camera would need to moved very often if the set location changes for example.
